Is it too soon to start thinking about the holidays!? Honestly since we moved into this new house in May home decor has been on my mind! And I have been dreaming about every detail I will add to this house to make it more of a home.
Home decor can get pricey when you add up costs of even the little pieces that give your space that perfect touch. So as excited as I am about home decor I’ve got to remind myself to create a plan!
Home Decor Tips:
1.) Create a mood board (Pinterest is heaven!)
2.) Dig through storage and use what you have first!
3.) Be creative and find small DIY options! Dresscorilynn is a queen of super cute and fun DIY projects so head on over to her page for some inspiration! She DIY’d a super cute budget friendly fall wreathe for her home you can check out her post right here !
4.) Also, create a well planned budget because when it comes to decor WANTS = NEEDS really quick! So stick to a budget!
5.) Before hitting the checkout button or swiping that card remember to make a list of what you need for your space and check off items from the list! Because too much stuff leads to hoarding which can overwhelm your home and space real fast!
6.) Remember to go room by room otherwise its easy to lose track of what you need for each space and going into stores can get overwhelming with the massive amount of sales/promotions! (Remember even though brands love to express that sales are a one time thing they happen ALL year EVERY year so don’t buy into that consumerism pressure!)
Want to keep your holiday home decor under a $150 budget!? Here is a round up of Walmart home decor pieces I’ve found that can cozy up your space and add a very festive touch!
And now for the very debatable question every year, when do you put up your Christmas Tree? Before or after Thanksgiving!?
I also went to my mom and asked to go through her old things for Christmas she had years ago. You won’t believe how many useful things I found for decoration. Your #6 is probably the best one because getting better familiar with your room will help you find what exactly you need and where to put it to better decorate. Anyway, thanks for sharing with us these useful tips!
That is such a great idea! Every year I also reuse some of my sisters tree decor from the year before too if she isn’t using it anymore. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
